Teach Daisy Dog to Kayak with Me
Daisy Dog and I have several years of kayaking adventures togehter.
The first kayak trip with Daisy Dog was exciting and was a great day together. I'll never forget our first minute together in the kayak.
I pulled Daisy Dog into the kayak with me, and she lay over the bow of the boat, with her front paws over the port and her back paws over the starbord. I laughed and scooped up my whole dog in both my arms and set her four paws down into the kayak cockpit with me.
Daisy Dog was nervous in the kayak the first time. Daisy whined a little, and let me know she was ready to go back to the shore. I thought since we were doing very well, I wanted us to stay out for a few minutes longer to see if Daisy Dog would warm up to this idea of kayaking with me.
I put the kayak in our driveway to find a good place to mount a camera on our new boat. While I was in the kayak, Daisy Dog hopped into the kayak with me. I understand that Daisy Dog let me know she wasn't quitting on the kayak. This dog is going, even if it did make her nervous.
We stopped at a little grassy marsh island on the lake and Daisy trotted around to explore a place that she can't get to, only by boat. That was a break through in our kayak training. Daisy Dog loved kayaking and exploring rivers and lakes with me since then.
I hope this helps encourage more people to take their dogs with them kayaking.
