Our Day will start by packing a picnic lunch.  Adventures work up a huge appetite, and hungry adventurers get grouchy.  Our goal is to have a fantastic day and enjoy being together.

Father's Day Adventures with Dog

If Dad doesn’t walk much, many parks with picnic tables are open, and have handicap parking.  An alternative is a scenic drive.  We’ve enjoyed many road trips, especially “off road trips”.

I can pack a very nice lunch or buy a take -out lunch for our picnic.  What I choose for my lunch depends on where we are going and the space I have for taking the lunch.  A hike requires a back pack lunch, and our river trips require a water proof cooler.  A road trip bike ride, I plan to leave our lunch in the car.

What’s in my picnic lunch?

My picnic basket holds lots of bottles of water covered in ice in the bottom of the cooler.  I put my entre on top of the bottles and lots of snacks on the very top with-in easy reach.  Huge deli sandwiches like a submarine or hoagie are my favorite for picnics.  Hoagies are meant to be enjoyed cold.  Another good choice for a picnic lunch is barbeque chicken.  I can slice it up to add it to a sandwich or eat it alone as a finger food.
