Before the dog’s joints hurt…. Wrap them
My dog is EVERY man’s best friend and enjoys meeting new people where ever we go. At the end of the day she’s my bestie.
All of her activities will take their toll out of my dog’s joints.
I wrap my dog’s legs damage before heavy exercise, games or chores to proactively prevent future joint damage
Wrapping my dog’s legs adds light weight stability support to protect her joints. Our dog loves to run jump and play and be with us everywhere we go. No matter where we are or what we are doing, she comes along. She’s a top notch athlete. She puts her everything into all that she does, be it rounding up stock, opening stall doors, or playing ball.
Hard playing athletes find their joints wear and fatigue, and then they ache, limiting their ability to practice and compete.
All human athletes from football players, gymnasts, golfers and skiers, wrap their joints during practice and in competition (if it’s allowed). The same is true of equine athletes. Horse’s legs are carefully wrapped for travel, and then wrapped for training and warm up exercises. Wrapping horses’ legs is to protect them from bumps, bruises and sport related stress and fatigue.
Why don’t we wrap our dog’s paws, ankles, and pasterns?
Not every pet has the work hard and play harder mentality. Exceptionally active dogs should have extra protection on their joints.
Other dogs, already experiencing joint pain caused by repetitive work, or enthusiastic games may find comfort in having their joints wrapped, keeping them a bit warmer in the cold and keeping arthritic swelling to a minimum.
Wrapping your dog’s legs won’t cure or repair damage done. All athletes know, wrapping their joints adds stability to a work out and feels less painful.
Wraps don’t need to be expensive or complicated. They can be purchased or homemade. Homemade wraps can be made to look adorable, and less expensive than store bought. Since you’re making them, you can customize them for your dog’s specific needs. There are a variety of braces and wraps in stores and on line.
My dog is a tough little cookie, and will keep working until her tasks are finished, even if she’s in pain. I wrap my dog’s legs, and know she’s protected without medications.
She’s my bestie, and I want the best for her. |
