Great Basin National Park, Nevada - Camping -

Most any park or camp ground will allow dogs at the campsites and parking areas, on a leash.  They aren’t to be left unattended, and can’t disturb other campers.  Only service dogs are allowed on the trails.

Keeping the dogs off the trails is also for the dogs’ own safety and the safety of the local wild life.Daisy Ice

Canoeing the Colorado River, Moab Utah,

We found Red River Canoe Company happy to allow dogs in their canoes, but not in their inflatables.  Makes sense, because a dog’s toenails could tear the inflatable and we’d all be in the creek with a paddle, but no boat.  The water in Utah is ice cold in May.  No one wants to be in that water for long.

We launched with seven other canoes, and 3 of us, had dogs with us.

Several hotels in Moab were dog friendly and want us to take rooms on the first floor.  Good idea for us with a new puppy.
