Christmas Shopping with my Dog

December we need to get Christmas shopping done and Daisy and I need to hurry, because Christmas was two weeks away, and we have nothing done.

Web shopping is convenient and saves me from long drives, crowded parking lots and people with road rage.  Daisy finds internet shopping a bore.  We compromised, and my dog and I went out shopping.

I truly wouldn’t be Christmas spirit if we didn’t need to warm up the car and scrape our windshield.  Looks like about one inch of ice. Seemed like five inches when my fingers and toes start to go numb. Daisy enjoys shopping and helped by barking for me to hurry.

We set off for to do our shopping.  First stop is the bank.  We waited our turn, and everyone there was wonderful and pleasant to us. They are happy to see a dog come and wish them Merry Christmas with their other customers.

Next we needed a Christmas tree.  Daisy likes to have a real at Christmas so she can drink water out of the tree stand instead of her water bowl.  We found a tree we liked, first stop at Home Depot.  Our local Home Depot is very dog friendly and one of our favorite places to shop. Everyone is friendly and in the Christmas spirit. The staff loaded the tree into the trunk of the car, took it home, set it up on the porch and gave it water before shopping for gifts.  We will move the tree indoors later.

I needed some gifts, and didn’t have any plans, or ideas.  My niece, Daisy and I drove to Wrentham Village Premium Outlets for some Christmas shopping.  Dogs are very welcome at this outdoor mall. There is a lot of walking outside from the parking lot to the shops, and from shop to shop. We shopped many stores with my dog. We met several other dogs and their owners.  The dogs had lots of wags for each other and are welcome inside all the shops.

Lululemon has a dog water bowl near the door for the four pawed Christmas Shoppers. A sign dogs are invited to Christmas shop here.

I hadn’t shopped at Klem’s in Spencer Mass, in years.  I know they welcome everyone on four paws.  Daisy especially enjoys the huge pet shop area of the store.  The staff helped us find the huge selections of dog snacks that they can share with their humans.  I felt we were Shaggy and Scooby Doo, sampling the Scooby snacks.

Lastly, we stopped for a little Holiday spirits and cheer, at Hometown Wine & Liquors, Main Street, Oxford, MA.  The owner’s dog, Roony is a handsome Golden Retriever.  Roony knew Daisy was feeling shy and intimidated by a dog more than twice her size.  As a gesture of good will Roony brought Daisy one of his toys. What a beautiful Christmas gesture. Christmas shopping with my dog knowing she is welcome makes the season merry and bright for us.
